Serving in Mission (SIM) is an international organization with
more than 1,600 active missionaries serving in more than 50
countries. SIM is founded on the command Christ gave in Matt
28:19-20:
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy
Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded
you."
SIM seeks to challenge churches to obey this command, providing
leadership training and practical help. Their purpose is to glorify
God by planting churches, and partnering with churches around the
world.
All of SIM ministries are motivated by the belief that mankind
is lost and needs redemption through Christ Jesus, our Savoir. SIM
acknowledges that man's ultimate need is to know God. He
calls us to be compassionate and serve in this broken world,
spreading the good news to people who are suffering, no matter the
circumstances. Believing there is more to evangelizing than
introducing the word of God, SIM’s commission includes teaching the
Word of God, helping people discover their gifts and talents,
enabling them to serve others, and helping them mature in their
faith.
SIM's major focus is reaching un-evangelized countries and
peoples. Where there is no church, SIM works to start one. Where
there is a church, SIM seeks to work with that church toward a
dynamic and interdependent church-mission relationship so that
together we can reach out to the unreached world. SIM has a
fundamentally different focus from specialized service agencies
that might focus on linguistics, or medicine. Although SIM may be
involved with many of those specialty areas, their focus is always
on the church.
